On June 4, 2012, three teens died when the car they were in collided with a semi tractor-trailer truck near Oswego according to Illinois State Police.
The 19-year old was driving south on Schlapp Road and pulled in front of a semi heading east on Illinois Route 126 around 3:15 p.m. The small car ended up underneath the semi.
Teenage drivers present the greatest risk of accidents due to their inexperience in driving as well as from myriad distractions such as texting, talking on cell phones, music and passengers. While police attribute the main cause of this accident to the teenage driver, the passengers who were killed have claims against the driver as well as the semi tractor-trailer truck.
