Settlement Reached in Will County Jail Collapse

Last updated 6 years ago

Two injured workers will receive approximately $6 million each for injuries sustained when the steel deck they were working on collapsed causing them to fall more than 20 feet.  Both men sustained injuries which prevent them from returning to work in the construction trade.  In addition to a workers' compensation case, both men had third party cases against the other contractors who were negligent while building the $70 million addition to the Will County Jail.

Although construction safety has improved over the years, there continue to be far too many preventable injuries.  Unfortunately, construction accidents often result in serious personal injury or even death.  McCready, Garcia & Leet have been representing construction workers for over 20 years in workers' compensation as well as third party personal injury cases.  Unlike some firms who only handle one aspect of your case, our firm has separate departments for personal injury and workers' compensation cases and we can handle both aspects of your claim.  If we can be of assistance, please feel free to contact us at (773) 779-9885.
