Motorcyclist Survives 40' Plunge From Dan Ryan Feeder Ramp

Last updated 6 years ago

On May 12, 2012, a 22 year old man lost control of his motorcycle while rounding the corner on the Dan Ryan Expressway and slammed into the concrete wall.  His body flew off the bike, over the barrier and down 40' below.  Fortunately for him, he landed on his feet and on an area of grass, escaping with minor injuries.  Had he landed on his head, he would likely have died since he was not wearing a helmet.

McCready, Garcia & Leet have long advocated for motorcycle safety.  Those using the road must keep a look out for motorcycles, and similarly, motorcycle riders must use safety in operating their motorcycles.  This accident was a one vehicle accident which resulted from the rider traveling too fast around the corner when he lost control.  Now that summer is here, let's all use extra care toward motorcycles and avoid traffic accidents and injury.
