A teenage motorcyclist was killed in a truck accident on Interstate 80 near Gary, Indiana, on September 19, 2012. Jonathan P. Veenstra-Bell, 17, of Gary, slammed into the back of the flatbed semi, which was carrying 20 tons of train engine parts. The motorcycle caught fire in the collision, and the driver stopped upon seeing flames in his rear view mirror. He extinguished the fire and then found the motorcyclist further down the road. Veenstra-Bell was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
