A Near North Side man was killed in a bicycle accident on Wells Street in Chicago on October 6, 2012. Neil Townsend, 32, an attorney and a Kentucky native, was bicycling to work when a car door opened just ahead of him. He swerved to avoid the door but moved into the path of an oncoming semi truck and was caught under its wheels. The man who opened the car door was cited for a traffic violation. Townsend's friends and fellow bicyclists remembered him with a group bicycle ride on the night of his death. McCready, Garcia, & Leet extends our condolences to Mr. Townsend's family.
