Fourteen people have now died as authorities scramble to locate the contaminated drugs. Most of those affected received steroid injections to relieve back pain. A Minnesota woman filed the first of what promise to be many lawsuits on October 12, 2012, as Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut called for a criminal investigation of the contamination at New England Compounding Center of Massachusetts.
