Hit-and-Run Kills Retired Fire Captain

Last updated 5 years ago

Leonard J. "Lenny" Bottando, 70, of Steger, Illinois, was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Bottando was crossing the street in nearby Crete Township when the accident occurred around 8 pm on November 11, 2012; he died of his injuries at St. James Medical Center shortly after midnight on November 12, 2012.  Bottando retired from the Steger fire department as a captain.  The driver who killed him fled the scene.  The vehicle is believed to have been a Chevrolet or GMC SUV and appears to have sustained front-end damage.  Police are investigating the case as a reckless homicide.

Bottando's family.  We work to win justice for people who are injured or killed in hit-and-run accidents.  If you or someone you love has been the victim of a hit-and-run, please call us at (773) 779-9885 for a free consultation.
