Chicago City Council Begins Settling with Drunk-Driving Crash Victims

Last updated 5 years ago

The Chicago City Council voted to authorize the first of what may turn out to be several settlements with victims of a May 2011 crash by an intoxicated city worker. Dwight Washington crashed a city truck into a crowd on a Gold Coast sidewalk, killing one woman and injuring several people.  An open bottle of brandy was found wedged under Washington's gas pedal.  He is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence for the incident.  The City Council authorized a payment of $6.25 million to David Chang, a computer scientist who was severely injured and permanently disabled in the crash. Four other lawsuits are currently pending related to the same accident.  McCready, Garcia, & Leet represents personal injury victims as well as the families of those killed in drunk-driving accidents.  If you or a family member have been the victim of a drunk driver, you may be entitled to justice. We can help. Call us at (773) 779-9885 for a free consultation.
