Three Officers injured After Chase with 17-year-old

Last updated 5 years ago

17-year-old Eric Samuels from the 600 block of Chicago’s 131st Street led police on a chase across town that resulted in the injury of three officers. Samuels was wanted on a warrant for parole violation. He was found driving a stolen vehicle when he sped off through town. The police pursued and Samuels eventually stopped the vehicle again to flee on foot. Police noticed a jacket wrapped around his hand, which they found to be disguising a 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number. He also had a large quantity of ammunition for the handgun on his person. Samuels resisted the officers, but was eventually taken into custody. During the initial chase a squad car crashed into an apartment building, injuring three officers. All three officers were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
